Ways to Say You’re Tired

πŸ‘©‍🏫 Step 1: Introduction (Engage)

  • Start with a question:
"How do you feel when you wake up early or after a long day?"
    • Let students respond with their own words (e.g., "I feel sleepy" or "I am tired").
  • Show a picture of a sleepy person and ask:
"What words can we use to describe this feeling?"

πŸ“Œ Step 2: Basic Expressions (Explain & Demonstrate)

Introduce simple phrases step by step with examples:
1️⃣ I am tired.

  • Example: "After a long day at work, I am tired."
    2️⃣ I feel sleepy.
  • Example: "I feel sleepy after lunch."
    3️⃣ I am exhausted.
  • Example: "I ran for an hour, now I am exhausted!"
    4️⃣ I’m worn out.
  • Example: "After studying all night, I’m worn out."
    5️⃣ I’m drained.
  • Example: "I had too many meetings today, I’m drained."

πŸ’‘ Activity: Use emojis or images for each expression and let students match them with the correct phrase.

🎭 Step 3: Role Play (Practice)

  • Situation 1:
Teacher: "You just finished running 5 km. How do you feel?"
    Student: "I am exhausted!"
  • Situation 2:
Teacher: "You stayed up late watching movies. What do you say?"
    Student: "I feel sleepy."
  • Pair Activity: One student acts out being tired, and the other student uses an expression to describe them.

🎲 Step 4: Fun Game (Interactive Learning)

  • Charades Game:
    • One student acts out a tired feeling (e.g., yawning, rubbing eyes).
    • Others guess the correct phrase (e.g., "You look sleepy!").
  • Memory Game:
    • Write different expressions on cards and mix them up.
    • Students pick a card and use the phrase in a sentence.

✅ Step 5: Wrap-Up (Reinforce & Review)

  • Quick Quiz:
    • "What’s a stronger way to say ‘I am tired’?"
  • Homework:
    • Ask students to write a short conversation using at least three new phrases.
  • Challenge:
    • Encourage students to use different expressions throughout the week instead of just saying "I am tired."
